Our client is a well funded series c market place. The Director of Marketing is going on maternity leave in August and is looking for someone to come in for 12 months starting in July. The person will be potentially slotted into another role at the end of that so there is the potential to switch to a FTE.

The role is at the centre of the market place, working cross functionally with other areas. 

Reporting to the COO and working closely with peers across a global commercial, product and marketing organisation, the Director’s role will include:

  • Assuming responsibility for country P&L (revenues and key cost lines), and delivering regular updates on country performance to the CEO and the Board

  • In addition to the broader P&L, responsibility for achieving key Customer, Demand, and Commercial (Supply) targets

  • Hire and develop a growing team of 10+ (3+ direct reports) across the following functions: Strategy & Insights, Communications (Corporate, Trade, Consumer), Trading, and Country Marketing

  • Provide guidance and operational inputs/data to central teams (Growth Marketing, Product & Analytics, Content, Commercial, Operations) for prioritisation and to drive UK business goal delivery 

  • Regular liaising with key stakeholders and functions to ensure priorities and roadmap are optimised for UK performance: Finance, DE and ES Country Directors, Growth, Product, Content, Commercial, Operations

  • Deliver UK Country Strategy

  • Drive team culture and operating model for efficiency, effectiveness and continuous improvement via Test & Learn and Retrospective frameworks

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical ability and P&L ownership experience

  • Strong leadership experience and the ability to inspire and motivate teams

  • Proven track record of delivering against targets and objectives

  • Highly entrepreneurial, probably with past experience of involvement in scale-up stage startups

  • Experience of marketplace / platform business models highly desirable
